Kongra in Wakhi language means tower or higher place, which refers to ascending higher level of knowledge and learning. Kongra is an initiative to promote and synergies local and indigenous knowledge to contemporary teaching and learning. The founder is the pioneer of girls’ education in his native village aims to provide knowledge and learning opportunities for disadvantaged people in remote areas. Kungra Research & Development ‘KRD’ was registered as a social enterprise with SECP in 2020, under section 16 of the Companies Act, 2017.
Contribute to Knowledge society through providing education, skills, and learning services to disadvantaged people in partnership with Government, civil society, and public sector organizations.
The purpose of Kungra is human development through Education along with working for the promotion and preservation of endangered local languages and local knowledge of Gilgit-Baltistan GB. Kungra purposefully focuses on the following while structuring its programs:
Human resource development include training of teachers, skill development, soft skill training, and overall, all human resource development mainly in rural areas.
Education and learning for people with special needs and disadvantages, include basic learning, skill training, and life skills.
Some of the local endangered languages and dialects: Wakhi, Domaki are among the language on the danger list of UNESCO. Kungra will work for the promotion, preservation, and development of language and its uses in local education.
Training and Capacity Building include teachers' training, leadership development, basic survey, and enumeration.
Community-based research, participatory research, local surveys, and studies.
We work for the preservation and development of endangered languages and dialects especially in Gilgit-Baltistan. We work on the capacity building of students, teachers and community as a whole.
We sit with the community, find out their issues, discuss them with them, and work for the solution.
We work on specific schedules, but we are available 24 hours, 05 days a week.
We serve together to bring new perspectives to the organization and generate a greater impact on the individuals, and communities.
